System - Tax Table Version - Taxation Rate

  • Payroll preferences are where you can define your settings for the Payroll module. It is divided into three (3) sections that you can access via the tabs: System, Tax Table Version, and Taxation Rate.

To access your payroll preferences, navigate to > Admin Settings > Payroll Preferences.

  • System Preferences:

Your system preferences lets you define certain aspects of Harmony Payroll. If this is your first time logging into Harmony Payroll, you will be required to set your preferences before you can access other menu items.

    • Payroll Country”: This defines where you are running payroll. You cannot change this.
    • Decimal For Rate/Units”: This value indicates the number of decimal places to apply to your rates or units, such as reporting and pay cards.
    • Decimal For Amount”: This value is set to two (2) decimal places by default and cannot be changed.
    • "Modules": Choose between "Basic Labor," Labor," "Labor + Union."
    • Click on the "Save" button 
  • Tax Table Version:

Taxes are typically updated 2-3 times per year, depending on your country’s regulations. When a new tax table is available, you will see a notification with an exclamation icon by your current tax table version.

To update your payroll tax tables:

    • Navigate to Admin Settings > Payroll Preferences.
    • Go to the “Tax Table Version” tab.
    • Click the “Save” button. This will update your tax tables and you’ll be ready to run payroll.
  • The system only allows users to change the tax table if there is a tax table update. If there is an update available a button available for updating tax tables.
  •  Taxation Rate:

Harmony can calculate Maximums, Exemptions, Contributions, and Premium rates, based on the payroll legislation in Canada. We recommend having your tax tables up-to-date, as calculations in Harmony depend on these tax tables in addition to your employee payroll information.

To check these tables, go to the “Taxation Rate” tab.
