How do I create CSST category for my company?

 

Note: CSST rate is based on Taxation year.

CSST is a company paid tax that used to be remitted once a year. New regulations require companies to pay the tax now with each monthly tax remittance.  This document outlines how to setup the category using.

Maximum / Minimum contribution and rate per year is subject to change and must be update by end user.

How to set up CSST:

To Setup CSST you need to add a New payroll category of type “Payroll tax”.

This category should be set to Provincial taxation and the rate of 5.45 [2011 rate] should be entered as seen in figure 1 below.

Payroll categories that contribute to the amount for CSST should have the “Payroll tax” checked in their subject to sections.

Reporting the CSST:

After defining the CSST Payroll category and processing a payroll you’ll find the category appear at the bottom of your Government Remittance Report.
