Define a Custom General Ledger Interface
Define a Custom General Ledger Interface
Out of the box, Clarity provides you with a variety of integrations with several accounting/financials systems. However, if your specific system is not currently integrated, we're happy to work with you to develop an integration. This article will provide you with instructions on how you can upload the interface file into Clarity.
Pre-Requisites
Have received the .RTM file from Paymate
(be sure you know where this file is located!)
Importing The .RTM File
In Clarity, navigate to Reports > Report Explorer.
Navigate to File > New > Report to create a new report. The Report Builder will pop up.
Navigate to File > Load From File....
Locate and select the .RTM file that will produce the report from your computer.
Click
“Open”
. The report layout is now imported.
Navigate to File > Save As... to save your file into Clarity.
Select the location where you want to save the report. For GL interfaces, select 'General Ledger' folder.
Enter the
"Name"
for your report. Be sure to remember or note down the name of your report!
Click
"Save"
to save your changes.
Close the report builder. You should still have the
Report Explorer
window open.
The new report is now listed in the Interfaces > General ledger.
Close the
Report Explorer
window.
Adding The Interface To Clarity
In Clarity, navigate to Configuration > Interfaces > G/L Export Interfaces.
Click
“+”
to add a new interface.
Enter a
"Code"
and
"Name"
to identify the interface. This is how it will be displayed in the interfaces list.
Enter the
"Account Code Format"
. Click the
"?"
button to find out more.
Enter the
"Layout Name"
of the interface. This is the report name that you saved earlier, in step #8 in the previous section (
Importing The .RTM File
).
Enter the
"Default Export File Name"
.
Click the folder icon next to
"Default Export File Name"
to identify the default location of where your export will be saved.
Select a
"Default Date Format"
.
If you want to have a fixed date format, checkmark the
"Fixed Date Format"
checkbox.
If you want to append your entries, checkmark the
"Append Entries"
checkbox.
Navigate to the 'G/L Parameters' tab.
Double-check the parameters and verify if the field is mandatory or not. If mandatory, ensure that the checkbox in the
"Mandatory"
field is checkmarked.
Click the checkmark icon at the top-right corner of the window to save your changes.
How To Select Your New General Ledger Interface As Default
In Clarity, navigate to Setup > Preferences > 'Interfaces' tab.
In the
General Ledger Settings
section, select the correct
"Default Export Interface"
in the dropdown field. This will be the same name that you named your interface from step #3 in the previous section (
Adding The Interface to Clarity)
.
Click the checkmark icon at the top-right corner of the window to save your changes.
Tip: Be sure to test out your interface before going live with it!
